The number of airlines flying between Australia and the USA has grown to seven, thanks to the recent launch of daily American Airlines flights to Los Angeles. With multiple daily non-stop services, the competition has never been hotter, and for passengers, it’s never been a cheaper time to travel.
It’s been a busy couple of years for American Airlines. In just the last twelve months, the Dallas/Ft. Worth based airline successfully worked its way through a number of prickly challenges. As part of the completed merger with US Airways, American successfully integrated the reservations systems and frequent flyer programs of the two airlines while amalgamating airport facilities and labour seniority lists.
Next month marks the debut of American Airlines’ service Down Under.
The inaugural flight from Sydney to Los Angeles is set to take-off on 19 December and will be operated by the airline’s brand new Boeing 777-300ER, an aircraft that American has decked out in a stylish three class layout.
