So, Who Flies Between Australia and the USA?

We have been talking about the USA and all of her great travel secrets, but we have not mentioned how to get there. So we have created a quick guide and synopsis of the airlines that fly direct between Australia and the USA.

Virgin Australia

As Australia’s newest airlines to grace the skies, Virgin Australia offer non stop flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles and beyond. Connections are available from most other domestic ports Australia wide and onward connections from Los Angeles are with primary code share and alliance partner Delta Airlines. Other connections are provided by code share partners such as sister airline Virgin America and Alaska Airlines.

Cabins offered include economy, premium economy and business class. Each cabin provides outstanding service and attention to detail with their own unique personalities and offerings. Velocity Rewards is their frequent flyer program and points can be earned or redeemed on all flights, including code share partners.

Qantas

Australia’s oldest airline and proclaimed national carrier, Qantas provides non stop service between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles, Hawaii and Dallas Texas. Connections are available Australia wide and throughout the US to many cities with their code share and One World partner American Airlines. While they may be the oldest Australian airline, Qantas proudly fly the newest aircraft in the market, the double decker A380 to the USA. Popular with passengers and staff alike, the A380 provides the latest technology and cabin designs for a quit, comfortable flight.

Cabins available include first class (select flights only), business class, premium economy and economy. Qantas Frequent Flyer Points are available on all flights including code share flights on American Airlines (pending fare class booked).

Delta Airlines

The recent merger of Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines has created the world’s largest airline flying today. Hubs include Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis St Paul, Detroit, New York and Atlanta. Delta covers the USA and extends into Canada plus Latin, Central and South America. Cabins include business and economy class.

Part of the Sky Team alliance, Delta Miles can be earned on all Delta and partner airlines, including Virgin Australia (or Velocity Points can be earned when flying Delta). Delta provides daily flights between Sydney and Los Angeles and beyond.

United

Following the recent merger of United Airlines with Continental Airlines, the new ‘United’ has transformed into the world’s second largest airline. With daily flights from Melbourne via Sydney to Los Angeles and the only airline serving San Francisco from Australia, United offer first, business and economy class. Economy includes a section for frequent flyers, Economy Plus, offering extra leg room. Connecting flights from select cities are available with Virgin Australia.

United is a Star Alliance member serving all of the USA with hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Houston, Chicago, Washington Dulles, Cleveland and Newark and provide connections to Canada, Latin, Central and South America.
