Day 5 – The 12 Days of ‘Where in the US would I love to spend to Christmas’

It’s day 5 of our 12 days of ‘where in the US would I love to spend Christmas and we’re in a city that is closer to my heart than any other. I’ve spent more time here than anywhere else in the U.S. – a city dotted with quaint neighbourhoods and cultural enclaves, great food (one of my favourites being the deep dish pizza), shopping on the Magnificent Mile and of course a Great Lakes coastline….

On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love said to me – Hello Chicago!

Buckingham Fountain – Chicago

Do not leave Chicago off your destination list if you’re looking for a winter wonderland over Christmas. Michigan Avenue in down-town Chicago is simply stunning at Christmas. It’s dubbed the magnificent mile for good reason.

No matter what time of year, nothing, nowhere in the U.S. compares to the beautiful manicured brilliance of Chicago’s Michigan Avenue (can I over state this?). The Michigan Avenue side-walks and boulevards are adorned with decorations, brightly lit trees and wintry flora for the most beautiful urban winter scene found anywhere. With luck you may encounter a snow fall while exploring the Magnificent Mile to top off the experience. Some of the world’s top rated hotels line Michigan Avenue, just steps away from some of the world’s best shopping.
